 RECITAL TO BE RESCHEDULED!
Please stay tuned for additional information.
All Pre-Ballet, Primary and Ballet 1 classes will continue through the end of May.

MAY RECITAL INFORMATION

Pre-Ballet, Primary Ballet, ALL levels Ballet 1, and Beginning Tap Participants
Our next recital will be held on May 9, 2020 at Great Mills High School.
Due to our increased enrollment, we are now holding TWO recitals. However, dancers will only participate in ONE show.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
SHOW A: 11 a.m.
Dancer’s Call: - 10:30 a.m.

SHOW B: 1 p.m.
Dancer's Call: 12:30 p.m.

TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE IN APRIL 2020
We are excited to showcase our youngest dancers. Our goal is to give them more time on stage without the additional rehearsal time required of the older students. This recital also gives a sneak peek at a piece from our June performance.

Attendance:
PLEASE make every effort to bring your child to class. It is difficult to pick up combinations when the rest of the class already knows the steps. Our recital is a team effort and it is difficult to work on placement when team members are missing. The recital should be a rewarding experience for your dancer and being confident in their dance will ensure this.

Rehearsals (during class time):
Dancers rehearse in class for our May recital.  Although there may be a few feeling anxious, please reassure them.  We still have plenty of time to practice.  Reviewing the steps in their heads is very effective in remembering the sequence. As we get closet to performance time, you may hear your dancer complain about not dancing the “games” in ballet class. We are working very hard to remember our placement as well as the dance steps.

Please encourage your dancer to practice at home. We do our best to be prepared; however, every year there are a few girls that get a little “stage struck” or “stage happy.” They always end up stealing the show! Please do not be surprised if your little dancer gets on the stage and does not perform. Being on the stage with lights and hundreds people in the audience can be very overwhelming. Our youngest dancers are successful when they step on the stage!

Free Dance:
At the end of some of the Pre-ballet class dances, the children will perform a “free dance”.  At Ballet Caliente this is an essential part of dance training. Free dance allows them to express themselves and be a beautiful ballerina. Thus, learn to PERFORM. Our hope is that as they grow in their training, they will capture and remember this artful expression.

RECITAL DAY (May 9)
Full costume and make-up are required. Make-up should be applied at home. Hair should be in a bun and headpieces
put on at home. Please see the student handbook online for guidance with make-up.
  • Dancers may not wear jewelry of any kind. All piercing should be removed with the exceptions of new earring studs.
  • Clear fingernail polish only.
  • Use sunscreen when outdoors prior to the recital.  Bathing suit lines look unsightly on stage.
  • There is no limit to Body Glitter. Please apply the roll-on type and not the spray.

Costume Requirements:
Ballet - Ballet PINK tights and PINK ballet slippers with sewn on elastic. Class related costume specifics will be distributed by your class mom.
Jazz - TAN jazz shoes and TAN tights.  Class related costume specifics will be distributed by your class mom.

Arrival:

All Pre-Ballet, Primary, Ballet 1 and Beginning Tap dancers should arrive wearing their pink tights (NO panties) under a recital t-shirt or cover-up; DO NOT WEAR COSTUMES TO OR FROM THE RECITAL.

Show A: Dancer’s call is 10:30 a.m.
Show B: Dancer's call is 1 p.m.

Please bring costume and shoes in a LABELED bag.  Please label your dancer’s costume, all costume pieces, and
inside of shoes with his/her initials or name.

Dancer Drop Off:
Older dancers will escort your children to their assigned dressing room.  Our backstage volunteers will take attendance and care for your child for the duration of the recital. BACKSTAGE AREAS ARE CLOSED TO ALL EXCEPT RECITAL VOLUNTEERS.

Dismissal:
All Pre/Primary/Ballet 1/Beginning Tap dancers will be dismissed as a class to their parents
at the conclusion of the show at the same entrance of at which they entered.  With younger dancers it takes time to get their belongings together in the dressing rooms, please be patient and wait outside for your dancer’s class to be dismissed. ONLY BACKSTAGE VOLUNTEERS ARE ALLOWED INTO THE BACKSTAGE AREA.
